Présentation du projet
'The Cosmic Atomic Impact Project'
One film.
World screenings.
A growing artist–activist network.
The Film
Amid escalating wars, climate collapse, and widening systems of apartheid, 'The Cosmic Atomic', the film (2025) asks a simple yet urgent question:
'Where are we going as a civilization?'
This Proarti campaign supports the diffusion of the film: a journey of screenings, discussions, and collaborative workshops that connect communities through art and environmental consciousness.
The film is a testament to independent and collective creation; art made with intuition, collaboration, and conviction. It has already begun its journey across the world, with selections at the Vindhya International Film Festival (Aug, 2025) , the Greece International Experimental Film Festival (Oct, 2025) , the Beijing International Short Film Festival (Nov, 2025) , and the Auroville International Film Festival (Jan, 2026) .
The film has already been fully produced, self-financed through Dakshin Studios (India) and the valuable contributions of our partners. This represents an in-kind and financial investment of approximately €2,000, reflecting our ability to mobilize resources independently with dedication and creativity.
The Cosmic Atomic Impact Project
Through ' The Cosmic Atomic Impact Project' , we now wish to take this dialogue further, traveling with the film across India, China, Thailand, Cambodia, and later to Europe , creating encounters, dialogues, workshops, and a growing network of artists, thinkers, and activists imagining new ways to inhabit our planet together.
Through this Proarti campaign, we are opening a new chapter of the journey: a collective movement to raise funds so the film can travel, meet new audiences, and spark conversations across Asia and Europe.
- Phase 1 spans Asia (India, Cambodia, Thailand, China) for ~2 months, supporting screenings, dialogue circles, and local collaborations.
- Phase 2 covers Europe (France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Greece) over ~2 months, facilitating partner screenings, workshops, and cross-cultural exchanges.
If additional funds are raised, they will allow us to:
- Support the artists and collaborators participating in the tour.
- Expand screenings to new regions, like the Middle East (Egypt and Dubai) or Central America (Mexico).
- Enrich the project's impact through dialogue sessions and creative exchanges.
- Archive global screenings and conversations to create a collective documentary record.
Who Are We?
Dakshin Studios is an independent art and film collective founded in India by filmmaker Kanchan Avchare . Rooted in South Asian narratives yet universal in spirit, the studio creates works that explore the intersections of ecology, civilization, and consciousness; committed to developing cinema as a tool for dialogue, a space where art becomes activism and imagination becomes action.
The project is developed in collaboration with Solarpunk Manifesto (France), a podcast and creative platform founded by Lola Kengen and Maxim Velli, dedicated to radical hope and alternative futures.
Guiding the project’s broader vision, Mel K brings her experience in global development and her deep belief in art as a bridge between worlds. After more than two decades working across Asia, Africa, and Europe, with Civil Society Organisations and the European Commission, she now mentors artists and initiatives that spark reflection and social transformation.
Through this partnership, ‘The Cosmic Atomic Impact Project’ bridges Asia and Europe, uniting artists, thinkers, and activists in a shared search for planetary imagination and change.
Kanchan Avchare about her film
“The body is the medium through which we experience ourselves and the world. Our senses guide and shape perception, molded by the stories we are told. Where we focus our attention alters what we feel, and thus, who we become. 'The Cosmic Atomic' is a sensory meditation on the origin of our civilization. Through striking visuals and a haunting narrative, this 20-minute film questions our notions of right and wrong, good and bad, and the fragile environments we create with every action. Absurd yet sincere, it reflects on the meaninglessness of the universe and the human mind’s relentless search for meaning, building civilizations and making art, only to lose balance. In the end, it asks: Can contradictions hold space for coexistence? Through lyrical playfulness, the film weaves the macro-cosmic and the micro-atomic - the vastness of the universe with the restless landscapes of our own minds.”
How does the film contribute to the artistic or social conversations and why are they critical now?
We are surrounded by systems in collapse, poverty, hunger, apartheid, injustice, and a widening gap between the rich and the poor. To celebrate life and abundance in one part of the world while another suffers feels painfully illogical.
This questioning became the impulse behind The Cosmic Atomic - a reflection born of urgency, discomfort, and love for the world. Each screening opens difficult but necessary conversations. It calls for a larger circle: artists, thinkers, activists, and individuals coming together to listen, question, and imagine differently.
Through this project, we travel, screen, and share; hoping to create ripples of awareness and solidarity. This is the most meaningful act possible right now: to spark conversations that remind us of our shared fate and our shared responsibility to imagine new systems, new stories, and new ways of being together.
Now, more than ever, international screenings of ' The Cosmic Atomic' are vital to spark reflection, dialogue, and cross-cultural understanding. As the film travels across Asia and Europe , it will engage communities in festivals, film schools, universities, art spaces, and local gatherings
Provisional timeline for the project
What could you do for this project as a supporter?
Financial support is one form of participation, but not the only one. You can also help by activating your own network and identifying people or institutions who could amplify the film's reach.
For example:
- Someone in your circle might be a journalist, curator, festival coordinator, cultural writer, or filmmaker who could help with visibility, press, or introductions.
- Perhaps you know a venue - an art space, independent cinema, community center, or educational institution - that could host a screening or conversation.
- Maybe there are collectives, foundations, companies, or cultural organizations aligned with themes of ecology, cosmic consciousness, indigenous knowledge, future imaginaries, or experimental cinema who could become major partners or donors.
Your support, whether financial, relational, or strategic, contributes directly to the life of the film and the community it seeks to build around new ways of seeing and imagining.

FAQ
The film 'The Cosmic Atomic' has been fully self-financed and completed through Dakshin Studios and our collaborators — a testament to independent creation. This campaign is not about production; it's about diffusion. We are raising funds to bring the film into the world — to host screenings, dialogues, and workshops across Asia and Europe. Each contribution helps us reach new communities, activate conversations, and build a global network of artists and thinkers imagining planetary futures together.
Your support directly enables the next phase of The Cosmic Atomic Impact Project. Funds raised will cover:
Travel, accommodation, and logistics for screenings and community dialogues.
Communication and outreach to local partners, venues, and press.
Facilitation of collaborative workshops and artist-activist exchanges.
Documentation of global screenings to create a living archive and video record of the journey.
Every euro goes toward keeping the project independent, transparent, and community-centered.
If we collect additional funds, it will help us better remunerate artists and collaborators and expand the project's impact. We could host additional screenings, workshops, and dialogue sessions at film schools, universities, art spaces, and community centers. It would also allow us to extend the journey to new regions — such as Egypt, Dubai or Mexico — where there is already interest in hosting screenings and conversations. These activities will not only deepen the project's reach but also nurture a cross-continental network of artists and activists, fostering collaboration, exchange, and collective action on ecological, social, and cultural challenges.
Absolutely! Supporters will receive regular updates throughout the campaign and the Asia–Europe journey, showing how funds are used for travel, accommodations, screenings, workshops, and festival participation. This ensures full transparency and allows donors to follow the impact of their contribution at every stage of the project.
The team & Solarpunk manifesto will also report to Proarti team, submitting all financial supporting documents for verification, as per their requirements.
Each screening becomes a space for encounter — where art meets activism, and conversation becomes a tool for change. The film opens dialogue on civilization, ecology, and consciousness in collaboration with local communities, schools, and cultural centers. By weaving together artists, thinkers, and activists from Asia and Europe, the project builds an evolving network of solidarity — small circles that ripple outward to shape collective imagination and action.
There are many ways to be part of this journey. You can: Connect us with journalists, curators, or festivals who could amplify the film's visibility. Introduce venues, cultural centers, or universities that could host a screening or discussion.
A quoi sert l'argent collecté
In harmony with Proarti’s values, our rewards are symbolic, artistic, and eco-conscious. They are offered not as material goods, but as gestures of connection -digital creations, mindful prints, and moments of shared reflection - each one carrying the same care for the planet that inspires the film itself.
planetary awareness.

The Story Behind
It was late at night. The moon was full. The forest lay quiet as I stood on a mountaintop, and a thought began to stir within me:
Long before civilizations, technologies, even fire - how did our ancestors live with this darkness?
That question became the seed of The Cosmic Atomic, a metaphysical sci-fi poem-film, a meditation on civilization’s adolescence and the choices that define whether we destroy or preserve our planet and its living systems.
The old myths have long told stories of love, longing, revenge, and violence - all vital human emotions - yet they often overlook the newer, more urgent questions of our time. Through this project, we have taken on the task of crafting stories that explore human collectiveness, our interconnectedness with nature, and the need for systemic empathy and inclusiveness, to imagine a new planetary myth that nurtures deep ecology.

The Larger Vision
This initiative is supported by collaborators and organizations dedicated to reimagining the future through art and dialogue.
At its core lies a vision of connecting local artists, storytellers, and activists, creating shared spaces for reflection, creation, and transformation.
Through screenings, exhibitions, and dialogues, participants become part of a living network connecting Asia and Europe - enabling grassroots initiatives to resonate within global conversations about ecological, social, and cultural renewal.
In Essence
‘The Cosmic Atomic Impact Project’ is not just about a film.
It is about dialogue, reflection, and connection.
It is an invitation to dismantle and renew, to listen and imagine, to move toward a planetary myth that recognizes humans, not as the center of existence, but as one part of a vast, living whole.
Through this ongoing journey - traveling, screening, sharing - the project seeks to create ripples of awareness and solidarity.
To spark conversations that remind us of our shared fate, and our shared responsibility to imagine new systems, new stories, and a new way of being together.

The film screenings,Beijing and Thai Chai...
The last month of the year, many thoughts floating… “Why do you close the lights? Why do you close your eyes? When you kiss me!” And then I remind myself it is a newsletter and not a love letter but it could be one as it is that time of the year, to hibernate reading a letter from an acquaintance or a lover:) Jokes apart, every month we will send a newsletter that will be a collage of notes on our encounters, engagements and epiphanies. Here’s a glimpse into how it looked and felt, and what unfolded, but before that we share what the project is about. The stage has been set. The project has been launched.
Let's see what we were upto..
NOVEMBER UPDATES

Beijing International Short film Festival, Nov, 2025. Film makers across the world gathered; in picture with them and the film festival director, Ding Dawei and curator, Rosine Lin He.After the world premiere of the short film, ‘the cosmic atomic’ in the International Experimental film festival, Athens, Greece, we were invited for our Asian premiere of the film in China, Beijing International Short Film Festival.
In the festival during our daily walks, through Beijing’s hutongs(ancient lanes) over several days, filmmaker friends from Bolivia, Mexico, Indonesia, Argentina, Finland and Italy shared stories of rising political tensions back home.
The conversations continued and deepened later, over noodles with our Chinese colleagues.
A friend Rodrigo said, “The biggest problem of the world today is nationalism.”
I headed with that insight to the next region, Thailand.
With the KMITL University students in Bangkok, 3rd, dec.
The letters that the 80 students wrote to me, sharing their very feelings
about the world around them and their inquiries and curiosities.
A student in the audience raised a question in the discussion, “Do you think your film can change the way most people think about living in a capitalist world that devalues our lives?”
I offer this question to my readers, “What do you feel, do you think art can change the world or anything for that matter?”
I love to hear back if you have any stand points and views, or tangible action plan:), feel free to write an email to me..

share/v/19YR8dpTVq/?mibextid= wwXIfr ***Meanwhile, I share here an excerpt from the poem, ‘Liberte’ by Paul Eluard, which I have been reciting for the few days now.
‘On my crumbled hiding-places
On my sunken lighthouses
On my walls and my ennui
I write your name
On abstraction without desire
On naked solitude
On the marches of death
I write your name
And for the want of a word
I renew my life
For I was born to know you
To name you
Liberty.’
(It would be interesting to ask your French friends to read it to you in French!)
So, on 7 Dec, 2025, we screened the film at The Commune-CNX in Chiang Mai with a diverse group from across countries. An intimate discussion followed, including a moving reflection from Gerard, a retired French teacher. The evening also brought new friendships—from meeting my first Pakistani friend, Adil, to an unexpected offer to stay in Rome from Jérémy.
Chiang Mai, the hub of Indian- Burmese filmmakers along with our Thai friends.
***And some facts about Myanmar from internet, we must be aware as a citizen of the world.
Myanmar has been in crisis since the 2021 military coup, which triggered a nationwide civil war, economic collapse, and widespread human-rights abuses. Millions have been displaced, with large numbers fleeing into Thailand — including Chiang Mai — seeking safety and work despite facing legal and economic hardships. The conflict remains active in 2025, with intensified fighting, airstrikes, and plans for a controversial election, keeping the humanitarian situation extremely fragile.

🏡 For friends and collaborators in Bangkok, we organized a screening at Blue Parrot Restaurant, the event was powered by Christelle, standing next to me(literally)
🪶🐚🪨🪐🚜 About the Project🪙🛁📽️🎄
We’re constantly reminded that the most powerful part of this project isn’t the film itself, but the conversations it sparks. People staying back to talk, connecting over shared experiences, and bringing unexpected perspectives from different regions and cultures.
☕️Next Stop: Cambodia
We are preparing for screenings in Phnom Penh, the capital town of Cambodia. (The moment is crucial as there is a war going on in the Cambodian Border with Thailand, we will talk more about this in next newsletter, I am writing from Phnom Penh, and things are fine)
Bophana Audio-Visual Centre on 17, dec, 2025.
Meta House on 23, dec, 2025
Siem Reap on 26, dec, 2025
P.S There is an ongoing war between Thailand and Cambodia,
Military men and civilians dying, and who is to blame?
I end the letter with a question,
who benefits from a war and who suffers the consequences?
Yours truly,
Kanchan from Cambodia
