Paris, Buenos Aires, deux villes, deux histoires vues à travers l’objectif d’un photographe, Eric Mistler. Né à Buenos Aires, Eric arrive à Paris à l'âge de treize ans et ne retournera dans sa ville natale que cinquante ans plus tard.
Sur chaque double page, deux photos, une de chaque ville, et de ses habitants ; deux photos qui se parlent, créent des associations, s’accordent ou s’opposent, par des associations subtiles et surprenantes.
“Paris Buenos Aires”, c'est aussi l’histoire personnelle d’Eric, une histoire de double culture et de double identité.
Ces photos racontent des histoires, édifient des ponts entre ces deux villes et leurs habitants, au travers de l'œil sagace d'Eric.

Le contenu du livre
"Paris Buenos Aires" est un livre de 128 pages, format 24cm x 29cm à l'italienne, composé de 115 photos en noir et blanc.
Le livre est trilingue, français, anglais et espagnol.
Deux préfaces précèdent les photos : une du réalisateur français Bruno Podalydès, une du journaliste argentino-français Jean-Louis Buchet et un texte d’introduction d'Eric Mistler.
A la fin du livre, deux cartes, une de Paris, une de Buenos Aires, qui indiquent où chaque photo a été prise, une biographie/chronologie de la carrière d'Eric et une page de crédits et de remerciements clôturent le livre.

Eric Mistler a dédié sa vie professionnelle à sa passion : l’image.
Au cours des quarante dernières années, Eric a été réalisateur de documentaires et de vidéos musicales, producteur de films, découvreur de talents lorsqu’il dirigeait sa maison de production, tout en restant un photographe humaniste.

The Book
Paris, Buenos Aires, two cities, two stories through the eye of one photographer, Eric Mistler. Born in Buenos Aires, Eric moved to Paris when he was thirteen and only returned to his native city fifty years later. On every double page, the books shows two photos, one of each city and their people, mirroring each others, presenting associations or oppositions. The readers’ imagination and curiosity are stimulated by subtle and surprising associations that the author might not have anticipated.
Paris - Buenos Aires is driven by Eric personal story, a story of double identity and culture.
The pictures tell stories and build bridges between these two cities and their people photographed by Eric with passion and emotion.

The contents of the book
"Paris Buenos Aires" is a 128-page book, 24cm x 29cm landscape format, showing 115 black and white photos.
The book will be trilingual, French, English and Spanish.
Three short texts will preview the photos: a text by French director Bruno Podalydès, a text by Franco-Argentinean journalist Jean-Louis Buchet and a presentation by Eric Mistler.
At the end of the book, we will find two maps, one from Paris, one from Buenos Aires, which will indicate where each photo was taken, a biography / chronology of Eric's career and a credit page featuring the thank you.

The Photographer
Eric Mistler has dedicated his professional life to his passion: pictures.
Over the last four decades, Eric has been a documentary and music video director, a movie producer, a talent spotter when he was running his own production company but most of all a humanist photographer.

The publisher
"Paris Buenos Aires" will be distributed by Berlin-based art and photography publisher Kerber Verlag. https://www.kerberverlag.com/en/. The book will be released on September 15th and will be available worldwide in all specialized bookstores and on online sales platforms.
The Exhibitions
The photos of Paris have been exhibited at the Buenos Aires Alliance Française and at the prestigious Biblioteca del Congreso during spring 2018.

A quoi sert l'argent collecté
L’argent que nous souhaitons collecter servira essentiellement à mettre le livre en page et à le produire.
L’éditeur de livres d’art et de photos Kerber Verlag nous propose d’imprimer le livre dans sa propre imprimerie en Allemagne et de le distribuer et le promouvoir mondialement. Mais « Paris Buenos Aires » étant le premier livre d’Eric, nous devons financer sa production.
La majorité de la somme collectée payera les services de Kerber, le reste servant à rémunérer notre maquettiste et le dessinateur des cartes.
Une petite partie de la somme sera affectée à la production des contreparties.

Ce projet est né d’une longue amitié entre Eric Mistler et Matthieu Lauriot Prévost. Ils se sont rencontrés il y a trente ans pour des raisons professionnelles et sont vite devenus amis, partageant leur passion pour la photo, le cinéma, les livres, la musique, les voyages, le football.
Quand Eric est rentré de son séjour argentin en 2018, il partagea quelques photos de Buenos Aires et de Paris avec Matthieu, en particulier celle des bonnes sœurs montant vers le Sacré-Cœur et celle de la bonne sœur devant le sex shop à Buenos Aires. Matthieu lui demanda s’il avait d’autres photos des deux villes qui se “parlaient”. Au bout de deux semaines, Eric montra une douzaine de paires et immédiatement Matthieu dit :

Il faut faire un livre. Je le veux dans ma collection.

Tu as déjà fait un livre ? demanda Eric.

Non. Et alors ?
Matthieu étudia sa bibliothèque et sa collection de plus de 300 livres de photos et écrivit une liste de 48 éditeurs en France, Allemagne, Angleterre, Italie, Espagne, Hollande, USA, Japon, Mexique.
Il passa un week-end à écrire à chacun d’eux un email personnalisé, montrant les meilleures photos du projet.
Et remarquablement vite, Kerber à Berlin, répondit qu’ils voulaient faire le livre.
Il n’y avait plus qu’à…
This project is the result of a long friendship between Eric Mistler and Matthieu Lauriot Prévost. They met thirty years ago for professional reasons and quickly became friends, sharing their passion for photography, cinema, books, music, travel, football.
When Eric returned from his stay in Argentina in 2018, he shared some photos of Buenos Aire and Paris with Matthieu, especially that of the nuns going up to the Sacré Coeur in Paris and that of nun in front of the sex shop in Buenos Aires. Matthieu asked him if he had more pictures of the two cities that were "talking" to each other. After two weeks, Eric showed a dozen pairs and immediately Matthieu said:

Have you published a book before? asked Eric

No. So what?
Matthieu studied his library and his collection of more than 300 photo books and wrote a list of 48 publishers in France, Germany, England, Italy, Spain, Holland, USA, Japan, Mexico.
He spent a weekend writing to each of them a personalized email, showing the best photos of the project.
And remarkably quickly, Kerber in Berlin, replied that they wanted to make the book.
Then, they just had to make it happen!
