Présentation du projet
Après une première édition de Hydra Dance Days, nous sommes heureux de préparer une version élargie pour juillet 2025. Cette année, de nouveaux partenaires se joignent à nous et permettent aux artistes de présenter leur travail à Hydrama Theatre, à Hydrogios Arts Center à Hydra et à Plyfa Performing space à Athènes.
After the inaugural edition of Hydra Dance Days, we are delighted to prepare an expanded version for July 2025. This year, new partners are joining us, allowing artists to showcase their work at the Hydrama Theatre, Hydrogios Arts Center in Hydra, and the Plyfa Performing Space in Athens.

Qui sommes-nous ? / Who are we ?
Michaela Meschke est une chorégraphe suédoise qui vit et travaille en France. Jacqueline Savidge est une artiste anglaise qui vit et travaille à Hydra, en Grèce. Elles ont décidé ensemble d'organiser Hydra Dance Days.
Michaela Meschke is a Swedish choreographer living and working in France. Jacqueline Savidge is an English artist living and working in Hydra, Greece. Together, they decided to organize the Hydra Dance Days.
Notre projet / Our project
Notre projet est de proposer un événement de danse qui permette aux habitants de Hydra à la fois de danser et de profiter d'une soirée de danse donnée par des artistes français et internationaux. Nous sommes convaincus que la danse est accessible à toutes et à tous, et qu'il est intéressant de créer un forum ouvert tant aux amateurs qu'aux professionnels.
Our project is to provide a dance event which allows the inhabitants of Hydra to dance by themselves and to enjoy an evening performance with French and international artists. We believe that dance is for everybody and that it is important to create an event open to amateurs as well as professionals.
Où et Quand ? / Where and When ?
Nouveauté pour cette année : un parcours dansé au centre-ville d’Hydra le samedi 5 juillet !
La soirée internationale de danse aura lieu le jeudi 10 juillet à l'Hydrama Theatre à Vlychos.
Michaela Meschke va donner des ateliers de danse du lundi 7 juillet au jeudi 10 juillet, de 10h à 12h dans le centre d’Hydra.
New this year: a dance tour in downtown Hydra on Saturday, July 5th!
The international evening performance will take place on Thursday, July 10th at The Hydrama Theatre in Vlychos.
Michaela Meschke will give dance workshops from Monday, July 8th to Thursday, July 10th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in Hydra town.
Pourquoi un financement participatif ? / Why a crowdfunding campaign?
L'argent recolté financera une partie des salaires des artistes. Nous avons aussi besoin d'aide concernant les charges liées au déplacement et le logement.
The money collected will partly help us to pay the artists salaries. We also need your support for the travel and accommodation expenses.

A quoi sert l'argent collecté
Nous avons besoin de vous pour rémunérer les 12 artistes, financer leur voyage jusqu'à l'île d'Hydra en Grèce, et diffuser leurs créations à l'international. La documentation (photos et vidéos) des oeuvres servira à la valorisation et la promotion des compagnies.
We need your help to pay the 12 artists and finance their trip to the island of Hydra in Greece, as well as to promote their creations internationally. The documentation (photos and videos) of the works will be used to enhance and promote the companies.

L’histoire derrière Hydra Dance Days :
The story behind Hydra Dance Days :
Michael Meschke, homme de théâtre et metteur en scène suédois, et Lakis Christidis, organisateur entre autre du Ciné club Hydra, ont fondé un festival international de théâtre de marionnettes. L'équipe a été rejointe par Antigoni Paroussi, professeur de l'Université d'Athènes. Pendant vingt ans, le festival a présenté de nombreux artistes professionnels du monde aux habitants et visiteurs de l'île.
Michael Meschke, theatre man and stage director, and Lakis Christidis, organizer of the Hydra Ciné Club, created the International Puppet Theatre Festival that went on for twenty years, assisted by Antigoni Paroussi, professor at the University of Athens. The festival presented many professional artists from around the world to the island's residents and visitors.
Après la clotûre du festival, de nombreux spectateurs ont réclamé le retour de cet évènement, aux souvenirs extraordinaires. En 2024, la fille de Michael Meschke, Michaela, chorégraphe, et Jacqueline Savidge, artiste, ont souhaité créer un forum pour célébrer la mémoire de ce festival. La deuxième édition du festival se tiendra en juillet 2025.
Ever since, the wishes for a continuation have been strong on the island. In 2024, Michael Meschke's daughter, Michaela, choreographer, and Jacqueline Savidge, artist, wanted to celebrate the memory of this festival by creating Hydra Dance Days. The second edition of the festival will take place in July 2025.
