1 Angarskaia Street is the first feature-length documentary directed by Rostislav Kirpicenko, a young filmmaker whose artistic and political vision was strikingly revealed during his training at La Fémis School. This documentary, produced by Matka Films, focuses on exploring the human and emotional consequences of the war in Ukraine, through an intimate narrative that intertwines personal and historical events, offering a unique perspective on a conflict that is shaping our time.

I met Rostislav in 2020 at La Fémis. Early on, his unique approach to filmmaking struck me, as did his ability to sensitively capture the nuances of the reality around him. Rostislav was already working on the theme of war, particularly since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. His commitment to this subject was evident in his writings, and it immediately became clear to me that this project deserved to be supported.

For over a year now, we have been working on the post-production of 1 Angarskaia Street, a project that is essential to us. This film, of crucial importance to Rostislav, is also a poignant testimony to an ongoing conflict whose repercussions are felt throughout Europe and beyond. Despite limited resources, we have made significant progress on several aspects of post-production, including image editing and sound editing.

However, several essential steps remain before we can finalize the film and give it the full scope it deserves. These steps include translation and subtitles, visual effects (VFX), sound design,... Finally, the production of the DCP will be the last step to ensure the film can be screened under professional conditions.
