Matilda Mackey

FR: Matilda Mackey est italo-américaine, ayant grandi entre Iowa City, dans l’Iowa, et Rome, en Italie. Elle a commencé la danse à l’âge de deux ans, dans un studio de danse local de sa ville natale dans l'Iowa. L’adolescence de Matilda a été marquée par la danse ; elle a terminé le lycée avec un an d’avance pour intégrer la Juilliard School à New York, où elle a obtenu un BFA en danse en 2020.

La période de pandémie a appris à Matilda à être adaptable et à construire sa carrière selon ses propres termes. Elle a commencé à travailler en tant qu’indépendante comme danseuse, chorégraphe et directrice de mouvement, tout en enseignant le Pilates à New York. Au cours de ses années professionnelles dans cette ville, Matilda a eu le privilège de danser pour plusieurs compagnies de projet, dont ZviDance, de réaliser son premier film de danse avec le producteur Paul Rabinowitz, de se produire pour Theory à la Fashion Week de New York sous la direction de la chorégraphe Heidi Duckler, de diriger le mouvement pour une campagne publicitaire photographique de ViiV Healthcare, entre autres projets. En septembre 2023, elle a senti qu’il était temps de tirer parti de sa citoyenneté italienne et d’opérer un grand changement dans sa vie ; Matilda a déménagé à Paris, en France, pour réaliser son rêve de vivre et de travailler en Europe.

Au cours de l’année passée à Paris, elle a travaillé sur plusieurs projets, dont un duo contemporain de longue durée à la Cité Universitaire sous la direction de la chorégraphe Joelle Santiago, un solo pour IF Collection lors de la Fashion Week de Paris, une performance de mi-temps pour Racing92 au Stade de France, et bien d’autres. Matilda est ravie de lancer son association, MSCM ARTHOUSE, dont le but est de promouvoir la collaboration des arts multidisciplinaires centrée sur la danse.

ENG: Matilda Mackey is half Italian, half American, raised between Iowa City, Iowa, and Rome, Italy. She began dancing at the age of two, at a local dance studio in her hometown in Iowa. Matilda’s adolescence was filled with dance; she graduated one year early from high school to attend The Juilliard School in NYC, from which she matriculated with a BFA in Dance in 2020.

The pandemic era taught Matilda how to be malleable, and to create a career on her own terms. She began freelancing as a dancer, choreographer and movement director, as well as instructing Pilates in NY. Throughout her professional years in NY, Matilda had the privilege to dance for several project-based companies including ZviDance, direct her first dance film with producer Paul Rabinowitz, perform for Theory in NY Fashion Week under choreographer Heidi Duckler, lead the movement direction for a photography commercial campaign for ViiV Healthcare, among other projects. In September 2023, she felt it was time to take advantage of her Italian citizenship and make a big change in her life ; Matilda relocated to Paris, France, to realize her dream of living and working in Europe.

Throughout the past year of living in Paris, I have worked on several projects including an evening-length contemporary duet at the Cité Universitaire under choreographer Joelle Santiago, a solo for IF Collection for Paris fashion week, a half-time performance for Racing92 at Paris Stade de France, among others. Matilda is thrilled to launch her association, MSCM ARTHOUSE, whose goal it is to promote the collaboration of multidisciplinary arts centered around dance.
